‘Regina’ Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso Derthona

Product description

The ‘Regina’ Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso Derthona is made from 100% Timorasso, also known as the 'White Barolo'. This wine comes from the hills around Montemarzino and Monleale in Piedmont. The vineyards are at 400 metres altitude, with a southeast exposure and clay-limestone soils with marl. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September and undergo gentle pressing, followed by cold settling of the juice and controlled fermentation. The wine then matures for around 11 months on fine lees in stainless steel, with regular bâtonnage, and then receives a further seven months of bottle ageing. A screw cap preserves optimal freshness and aging potential.

In the glass, 'Regina' shines with an intense straw yellow colour. The aroma is complex and refined, with creamy notes of honeycomb, apricot, candied citrus and a distinct minerality. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, but at the same time fresh and juicy, with a long, persistent finish. The limited use of sulphites contributes to the purity and precision of the flavour profile, which evolves beautifully with bottle aging.

With an alcohol content of 13.5% and excellent acidity, this Timorasso has an aging potential of eight to 12 years. 'Regina' pairs perfectly with risottos with mushrooms or truffles, fried fish, shellfish, flavoursome white meats and aged or blue-veined cheeses. For the optimal experience, we recommend serving at 13-15°C in a large Burgundy glass.
