Sicily is an island of extremes: a relentless summer, a Mediterranean climate with little rainfall, and a wind that almost never stops. In the province of Trapani, on the agricultural plains between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo, lies Arini Vini. The vineyards sit just a few metres above sea level, on sandy, slightly clayey soils that absorb the warmth of the day and allow the grapes to ripen slowly. It is an environment that pushes white grapes to give their very best.
The Kyrkir is a Chardonnay that carries the Sicilian sun without being overwhelmed by it. The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in a combination of wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks. After four months of ageing, the wine is completed in bottle: an approach that preserves the freshness of the fruit while adding a subtle richness and roundness that stainless steel alone cannot provide.
In the glass it shows a straw yellow with light golden nuances. The nose is intense and persistent: flowers, white stone fruit, and a gentle hint of sweet spice. On the palate it is dry, soft, and balanced, with a fresh undercurrent that makes it linger longer than expected. An ideal wine alongside smoked fish, shellfish, or light fish dishes. Serve in a Bordeaux glass at 8 to 10 degrees.
