Product description
Podere Ciona's Chianti Classico DOCG Annata is an elegant and characterful wine that reflects the unique terroir of Gaiole in Chianti. This cuvée consists of 96% Sangiovese and 4% Merlot, from vines located at an altitude between 490 and 625 meters above sea level. The vineyards are planted on soils rich in sandstone, clay schist and marl, which contributes to the wine's refined structure and aromatic complexity.
Vinification is carried out with utmost care: the grapes ferment with natural yeasts for 10 days in temperature-controlled 30-hectolitre stainless-steel vats, followed by a long peeling of 35 to 40 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 12 to 18 months in large French oak barrels, after which it rests in bottle for at least six months. This process results in a light ruby red wine with a delicate bouquet of red fruits and spices. On the palate, it shows light-bodied, well-balanced and particularly approachable.
Chianti Classico Annata goes perfectly with a variety of dishes such as pasta, fish, white and red meat, cheeses and classic Tuscan cuisine. It is best served at a serving temperature of 16 to 18°C, and it is recommended to open the bottle at least an hour beforehand. With only 8,300 bottles produced, this wine is not only an ode to tradition, but also a refined choice for those who love an authentic, pure Chianti.
