This refined Merlot, called Gaia, comes from a tiny vineyard plot in Fauglia, located in the gentle rolling hills of Pisa in Tuscany. This is a 100% Merlot wine with an alcohol content of 14%, from the Tuscany IGT region. The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes of 15 kg in order to maintain optimal quality. Picking is followed by a careful vinification in small stainless steel tanks, during which the must macerates on the skins for 15 days. The temperature of alcoholic fermentation is carefully matched to the ripeness of the grapes to get the best out of the aroma profile, tannin structure and color.
After fermentation, the wine matures in 225-liter French barriques. During this process, any oenological intervention is deliberately foregone: the wine is neither clarified nor filtered, resulting in a pure expression of terroir and grape.
Gaia presents itself with a deep, intense color and enticing aromas of cherries and blueberries, complemented by notes of candied fruit and soft spices. On the palate, the wine is supple, well balanced and elegantly long on the finish. A characterful Tuscan Merlot that effortlessly combines finesse and power.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
