In northern Piedmont, where the Alps make their influence felt, lies Gattinara - one of Italy's most characterful origins. Here, on soils of ancient volcanic porphyry, a wine emerges that is as powerful as it is refined. The poor, acid soil forces the vines to take deep roots, resulting in wines with exceptional minerality and precision.
Made from mainly Nebbiolo, sometimes supplemented by small amounts of Vespolina, Gattinara DOCG shows in the glass with an intense ruby red colour that slowly evolves into garnet. On the nose, it is noble and broad, with elegant aromas unfolding layer by layer, supported by a distinct mineral undertone typical of this unique terroir.
On the palate, the wine is dry, powerful and layered. It moves vertically across the palette: tight, complex and with impressive length. This is a wine that takes time AND rewards - a pure expression of volcanic soil, tradition and finesse.
