This Dornfelder Barrique tells the story of patience and ambition on the Moselle. After a careful harvest, the best Dornfelder grapes were selected and fermented slowly on the skins, giving colour, depth and character all the space they needed to develop. What started out as a powerful base wine was then given extra time to mature and grow into something special.
Some of this wine was allowed to rest in small barrique barrels made of French oak. During this quiet period, the wood softened the tannins and imparted subtle layers of vanilla, toast and spiciness, without overpowering the fruit. The result is a Dornfelder that retains its youthful vigour while exuding refinement and elegance. In the glass, it shows deep dark red, almost velvety.
On the palate everything comes together: ripe forest fruits, cherry and a hint of cocoa, carried by a soft wood tone and a long, warm finish. This is a wine for moments when things can be a little quieter, with a good piece of meat, game dishes or an evening by candlelight. A Dornfelder for those who want to get to know the Moselle from its most mature and layered side.
