Derthona is more than a name; it is the historic soul of Timorasso, a grape that has been revived in the Colli Tortonesi and finds its purest expression here. The grapes are harvested only when they reach full aromatic ripeness, after which a short cold maceration brings out the finest aromas. Gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel ensure precision and purity, while ageing on the lie with regular bâtonnage adds texture, depth and complexity to the wine.
In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant golden yellow colour, which only intensifies with age. The aromatic profile is layered and refined: elegant floral notes of jasmine and acacia transition into ripe yellow fruit such as pear and apple, followed by subtle hints of spice and a distinctive mineral tension. As the wine opens up, it shows increasing complexity and finesse.
On the palate, Derthona combines power with elegance. The lively acidity gives energy and length, while the creamy structure - from lie aging - provides balance and roundness. The finish is long, refined and slightly salty, with a mineral precision typical of great Timorasso.
