The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Saints-Georges" 2023 from Domaine Désertaux-Ferrand is among the most prestigious wines of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. This historic Premier Cru, whose vineyards were already planted around the year 1000, is known for its exceptional depth, structure and storage potential. Its southeast exposure on stony limestone and clay soils gives the wine a powerful yet refined style that perfectly reflects the character of the Côte de Nuits.
On the nose, the wine opens with intense aromas of dark cherries, ripe red fruits, spices and subtle wood tones. On the palate, it shows rich, concentrated and perfectly structured, with silky tannins, lively acidity and impressive length. Traditional vinification with cold maceration and fermentation on natural yeasts adds finesse and terroir expression. The wine is then aged for 12 months in fine-grained oak barrels, about half of which are new wood, which adds extra depth, elegance and complexity without dominating the fruit.
This Premier Cru is an excellent companion to refined game dishes, red meat, truffle dishes and mature cheeses. Thanks to its powerful structure and great concentration, the wine has excellent ageing potential. The wine was also awarded a gold medal at the Concours des Grands Vins de Mâcon 2025, a major award within Burgundy.
