Le Météore Rouge 2022 is a modern and charming red wine that expresses Domaine du Météore's unique terroir in an accessible way. Located in Cabrerolles, around the impressive meteorite crater that gave the estate its name, the vineyards benefit from an exceptional combination of mountain and Mediterranean influences. The schisty soils - rich in shale - give the wine its distinctive tension and minerality, while the cool air currents from the north provide freshness and balance.
The blend consists of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, classic grapes for Languedoc. After destemming, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks. Colour and tannins are gently extracted via traditional methods such as remontage, rack-and-return and pigeage. Maturation takes place entirely in steel, keeping the fruit and purity central. The alcohol content is 14%.
In the glass, Le Météore Rouge shows a bright ruby colour. The nose is expressive with notes of raspberry liqueur, fresh blackcurrants, violets and thyme blossom. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with supple tannins and a pleasant drinkability. A contemporary, balanced wine that goes perfectly with grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes or a board of charcuterie.
