Parangon 2020 is a powerful and elegant red wine from AOP Saint-Chinian, from plots with white schist soils. These light, mineral-rich soils give the wine refinement, aromatic tension and a distinct terroir expression. The vines have an average age of 30 years, which provides concentration and depth.
The blend consists of 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache, harvested at optimum ripeness. After destemming, a traditional vinification follows with a long post-fermentative maceration of 3-5 weeks to obtain maximum extraction of colour and structure. The wine is then aged for 18 months in new Burgundy oak barrels, providing extra complexity and refined wood integration.
In the glass, Parangon 2020 presents itself bright and deep in colour. The nose is complex and layered with aromas of lily, honey and cocoa, complemented by notes of incense and resin (terebinth). On the palate, the wine shows supple and silky tannins, with an elegant structure and a long, refined finish.
