The Rarísimo 2024 Rufete is an extremely rare edition of just 966 bottles, sourced from the Las Brozas plot in Santibáñez de la Sierra, planted in 1950 on granitic, sandy soil using traditional bush-trained vines at an altitude of 800 metres. The plot covers 0.47 hectares and yielded just 1,175 kilos of grapes.
The whole bunches are placed in a concrete tank and gently pressed to initiate spontaneous fermentation. After daily racking until the density reaches 1050, the wine is racked and lightly pressed. Alcoholic fermentation is completed in barrels, alongside malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for four months in two second-fill French oak barrels (500 and 225 litres) before bottling in the spring of 2025.
A bright and evocative medium-deep ruby red, typical of the variety, with a rim showing bluish hues. A subtle and distinctive aroma. A spicy note reminiscent of grape stalks, with a hint of berries in the background. The concrete tank enhances the wine’s minerality and emphasises the freshness and subtle smoky note so characteristic of Rufete. On the palate, it is flavourful, light and fresh, with lively acidity and subtle astringency. Complex, with notes of candied fruit and undergrowth. Spicy, liqueur-like, briny, silky-smooth and long-lasting.
