Product description
The Raro 2024 takes its name from its own acronym: Rufete Auténtico Realmente Original. It is the estate’s flagship single-varietal Rufete, designed to showcase the grape through its characteristic acidity, minerality and that distinctive smoky note. The label is inspired by the classic ‘Vitor’ banners of the University of Salamanca. The wine comes from two small Rufete plots (El Castañito and El Tesoro) in the Valdáguila valley near Garcibuey, planted in 2013 on slate soil with clay at an altitude of 750 metres.
As the plots are relatively young, around 30 per cent of the grapes are removed at veraison to regulate the yield per vine and maintain quality. Following selection on the sorting table, complete destemming without crushing and cold pre-fermentation maceration, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place on the wine’s own yeasts at a maximum of 24°C, with two to three daily pump-overs. After racking and light pressing, malolactic fermentation takes place partly in used barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks. The wine settles in the tank for two months before undergoing a brief ageing period in French oak barrels.
Bright, attractive cherry red with a lively purplish rim. Subtle and distinctive aroma. Mineral and spicy with floral notes, dried herbs, creamy oak and red fruit. Green tea infusion. On the palate, it is flavourful yet light and fresh. Well-balanced and full-bodied, with ripe fruit, spice and ripe tannins, leading to a very long finish. Lively acidity. A silky-smooth texture.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:

12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
