The Rarísimo 2024 Garnacha is an extremely rare wine made from 100% Calabrés (Garnacha Calabresa), sourced from three small adjacent plots in Santibáñez de la Sierra, planted using traditional bush-trained vines on sandy granite soil at an altitude of 800 metres. The three plots (Las Brozas 1950, El Valle 1945 and Cruz de Candelario 1945) together yield just 1,804 kilos, which amounts to 1,261 bottles.
The whole bunches are placed in a concrete tank and gently pressed to extract 10–15 per cent of the must, thereby initiating spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. After daily racking until a density of 1050 is reached, the wine is racked and lightly pressed. Alcoholic fermentation is completed in stainless-steel tanks at a maximum of 23°C, concurrently with malolactic fermentation. The wine is then returned to the concrete tank for five months’ ageing.
A beautiful cherry colour with purple hues, of medium intensity. Elegant and balanced on the nose. Mineral on the attack, followed by wild berries, river pebbles, a hint of spring water (watercress, seaweed), green tea and flower petals. Complex and silky-smooth on the palate, with pronounced minerality and a polished vegetal note. Fruity, silky, fluid and with fresh acidity. Long finish.
