Product description
The Etna Bianco Crociere 2023 is an exceptional white wine from a single vineyard in the municipality of Milo, on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna at an altitude of 870 metres. The vineyard was spared from a volcanic eruption in 1971 and now stands like an island, completely surrounded by lava. On the volcanic, sandy soil rich in lapilli and pumice, the grapes are organically cultivated using the alberello method. Following gentle pressing and cold settling, the wine ferments for 12 days at a controlled temperature (12–15°C) in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled 10 months after harvest and continues to mature in the bottle.
The 2023 vintage on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna was characterised by an unsettled spring with heavy rainfall, followed by a hot, dry summer. In Milo’s unique microclimate, this resulted in a yield reduction of up to 40% in some cases, but the Carricante’s typical high acidity and briny structure were fully preserved. The harvest was completed two weeks later than usual, ensuring slow, balanced ripening and aromatic precision. In the glass, the Crociere displays a bright, crystalline straw-yellow colour. The nose is distinct and vertical, fruity, floral, slightly smoky and mineral. On the palate, the wine is strikingly linear, flavourful and energetic, with a firm structure and a long finish.
The Crociere 2023 is a versatile white wine that pairs excellently with seafood such as mussels, lobster and prawns, grilled or fried fish, light pasta dishes with fish or shellfish, and fresh cheeses. Its high acidity and minerality also make it delightful as an aperitif or with light summer dishes.
