Product description
La Cesa takes its name from the former owners of the plot where one of the estate's most important Barbera vineyards stands: the land once belonged to the Catholic Church of Montabone, which in the Piedmontese dialect is called 'Cesa'. A name that carries history, just like the wine itself.
The finest grapes from the vineyard are selected at high sugar levels and fermented using the traditional red method, with a long maceration on the skins for maximum extraction of aromas, body and colour. After a resting period in stainless steel, 60% of the wine goes into new French oak barriques of 220 litres for 12 months, while 40% ages in cement vats. Once the oak ageing is complete, both parts are blended to balance the flavours: fruit forward, not oak-driven. The wine then ages a further 18 months in bottle before release. In the glass, La Cesa is an intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is full and ripe: dried roses, vanilla, pepper and plum jam. On the palate it is full-bodied and rich with soft tannins and a long, warm finish.
La Cesa pairs excellently with flavoursome meat dishes, game and aged cheeses. Well cellared, it can improve for many years to come. Serve at 16-18°C.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
