‘Oltre’ means ‘further’ — and that is exactly where this wine takes you. This is the ambitious flagship wine of Tenuta La Tenaglia’s white range, made from carefully selected Chardonnay grapes from a vineyard at an altitude of 400 metres. The yield has been deliberately limited, and the selection process is exceptionally meticulous. The result is a wine for special occasions, for the right people, to be savoured slowly.
Fermentation takes place in new small wooden barrels, after which the wine matures on its lees for about a year in small French oak barrels, followed by at least eight months in the bottle. This ageing process gives the Oltre its characteristic depth, structure and complexity. In the glass, it is a deep straw-yellow with golden hues. The nose offers ripe fruit and vanilla. On the palate, it is elegant and well-balanced with herbal notes.
Perfect with refined fish and vegetable dishes, white meat or mature cheeses. Also a wonderful wine for quiet contemplation. Serve at 11–12°C and allow it to breathe for a while after uncorking.
