Rio Maggio's Granarıjs Rosso Piceno DOC is a wine with character and history, named after the ancient toponym Mons Granarijs - today's Montegranaro - which was known for its granaries in Roman times. This wine embodies the rich tradition of the Marche region, where careful grape selection and artisanal vinification come together to create a red wine of great elegance and personality. The blend consists of 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese, from carefully selected bunches - only two to three per vine - hand-harvested at the perfect moment of ripeness.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C, with repeated over-pumping and a post-fermentative maceration of four to five days to enhance colour and structure. The wine then ages for 14 months in French barriques, followed by six to eight months of bottle aging. In the glass, the Granarıjs shows a brilliant ruby colour with garnet reflections. The nose is refined and intense, with aromas of red fruit, pepper and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is full and round, with a harmonious balance of ripe fruit, soft tannins and a long, elegant finish.
The Granarıjs Rosso Piceno DOC is the perfect companion for powerful dishes such as roast meat, game and stews. Its full flavour also comes out perfectly with a plate of mature cheeses. Serve this wine at 16-18°C to fully express its complexity. With a storage potential of 15 to 20 years, this is a wine that not only impresses today, but will also stand the test of time with pride - a true expression of craftsmanship and the wine tradition of Le Marche.
