Agnelli Viassone's Langhe Riesling DOC is a unique and promising white wine, from a vineyard that Daniele planted in 2021. Although Riesling Renano is a rare choice for the Langhe, this decision was deliberate: it allowed the adjacent forest, essential for their bee families, to be preserved. The vineyard is on a northeastern slope, ideal for maintaining the freshness and vibrancy in the wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand in perforated crates to ensure quality. They then undergo about five hours of criomaceration in the press, partly with whole bunches, followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place for about twenty days in stainless steel vats, and the wine then ages in steel for another four months to fully retain its fresh character.
At 12.5% alcohol, this Langhe Riesling offers a wine with nice acidity, character and lively structure. It is delicious to drink young, but also possesses the potential to age for several more years in the cellar, where its complexity will deepen. A special expression of the Langhe, where conservation and craftsmanship go hand in hand.
