Dutch wine on soil ten thousand years old: that is Eskerwijn. In Langeveen, in the north of Twente against the German border, the De Mandjesberg vineyard sits on a rare esker, a meltwater ridge from the ice age made of clay loam, coarse sand, gravel and stones. It is the only above-ground esker in the Netherlands, and you taste that mineral-rich, well-draining soil in the glass.
The estate is young and ambitious. The first 7,000 vines went into the ground in May 2021, the first harvest followed in autumn 2022, and in 2024 six debut wines won a medal straight away at the Wine Competition of the Low Countries. In 2025 Eskerwijn also received the protected designation of origin Esker-Langeveen. With that, this winery put a completely new Dutch wine region on the map.
During this masterclass you taste a selection of the finest bottles, from the award-winning 'Esker Sekt Cuvée' and 'Esker Wit Chardonnay Barrique' to the 'Esker Parel Rosé' and the 'Pinot Noir Barrique', while the winemaker takes you through the story of serious viticulture on Dutch soil. In Dutch, with plenty of room for questions. Take a look at all Eskerwijn wines in advance.
