Champagne Trudon Monochrome is a special cuvée dedicated entirely to one grape: Meunier. This champagne comes from Festigny, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, where the clay-limestone-rich soils are ideal for this grape variety. For Monochrome, only the ripest grapes from old Meunier vines are selected to express the full character and potential of this grape. The cuvée is fortified with around 40% reserve wines, which adds extra complexity and depth while maintaining the house's recognisable style.
During vinification, partial malolactic fermentation (about 15%) is used to balance the natural freshness and ripeness of the grapes. The champagne then matures for at least three years on the lie in the estate's cellars, creating a refined mousse and aromatic complexity. The result is a champagne with a clear focus on expression, tension and minerality, in which Meunier's identity is central.
In the glass, Monochrome shows a bright pale yellow colour with fine, elegant bubbles. The nose opens with aromas of quince, gala apple and orange, which develop into subtle mineral notes with hints of violets, star anise and a slight smokiness. On the palate, the champagne is fresh and creamy at the same time, with flavours of yellow fruit and citrus supported by a lively minerality. The long finish combines fruity freshness with floral, peppery and slightly liquorice-like nuances, making for a refined and characterful champagne.
