12 and 13 December: the ONWINE Winemakers’ Festival. Winemakers from all ONWINE countries are coming to the Netherlands to let you taste their best wines.
The ‘Sauvage’ Bianco IGP Venezia Giulia by La Fornase is an intriguing and characterful white wine from Rivarotta di Pasiano di Pordenone, in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Made from two Sauvignon varieties, Rythos and Nepis, cultivated using the Sylvoz system and harvested in mid-September, this wine captures the full aromatic potential of the grapes. Fermented in stainless steel, it preserves freshness and purity while developing remarkable depth and complexity.
In the glass, the Sauvage Bianco reveals a distinctive amber hue with orange highlights. The bouquet is complex and inviting, with notes of tropical fruit, gentle spice, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it is intense and full-bodied, with lively acidity and a long, expressive finish that balances power and elegance. It is a wine that truly reflects the authenticity and soul of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s terroir.
The ‘Sauvage’ Bianco IGP Venezia Giulia pairs beautifully with sea bream or sea bass in curry sauce, spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino, or tonnarelli cacio e pepe. It also complements pizza marinara, spicy cured meats such as spianata or ’nduja, and herbed or smoked cheeses. Serve chilled at 10–12 °C to fully appreciate its rich aromas and expressive character.
