Château Dauphiné-Rondillon - Cuvée d'Or 2017 is a historic sweet wine from Loupiac AOC, from the exceptional vineyard at the top of the "Rondillon" hill. For eight generations, the château has been owned by the same family. Its unique location provides ideal conditions for noble rot, creating an elegant yet powerful dessert wine. Moreover, in 1927, Château Dauphiné-Rondillon was one of the first châteaux to sell its wines in bottle rather than barrel - a progressive choice at the time.
The estate has enjoyed international recognition for decades and has historically been rated at the same level as the most prestigious Sauternes. A special moment of interest to Dutch wine lovers too: at a luncheon in honour of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, the 1937 vintage of Château Dauphiné-Rondillon was poured alongside the legendary 1939 Château d'Yquem. A rare recognition of class and reputation.
The 2017 Cuvée d'Or, made from 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, is aged for 18 months in oak barrels and shows a deep gold colour in the glass. The nose is intense and rich, with honey, apricot, pineapple and tropical fruit. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, with lush sweetness and long, complex finish. A classic Loupiac with great storage potential, perfect with foie gras, blue cheeses or delicate desserts.
