The 2023 Côtes du Rhône Villages Blanc from Domaine Le Ver Libre is a rich and characterful white wine from the Rhône. The wine is made from 70% Ugni Blanc and 30% Clairette, sourced from vines averaging 45 years old, grown on clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed immediately. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts.
In the glass, the wine has a straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose is intense and rich, with aromas of pear, white fruits and subtle notes of orange peel, cinnamon and saffron. On the palate, the wine is fresh, intense and full-bodied, with a structured character and a lovely length. Ageing on the lees contributes to its full texture and complexity.
This white Rhône is exceptionally versatile at the table. Thanks to its combination of freshness, fruitiness and spicy notes, it pairs well with dishes featuring white fruits, saffron and herbs. The wine also has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared for several years.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
