The 2022 Rasteau Rouge from Domaine Le Ver Libre is a full-bodied red Rhône wine, made from old vines with an average age of no less than 70 years. The blend consists of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah. The grapes grow in clay-limestone and gravelly soils and are traditionally harvested by hand into small crates.
The wine has a deep crimson colour with purple highlights. On the nose, it is elegant and expressive, with aromas of cherries, stone fruit, baked apple, herbs, garrigue and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is deep, generous and full-bodied, with fine yet firm tannins, a slight mineral note and a powerful structure. The finish is long and intense.
This is a wine with plenty of character that pairs superbly with hearty dishes. Think of lamb, game, beef and strong cheeses. Thanks to its structure and ageing potential, the wine can also continue to develop for many years to come.
