Toiano is Marchesi Ruffo della Scaletta’s lively red wine, a symbol of drinkability, authenticity and refinement. This wine exemplifies the estate’s revised vision of quality, combining traditional grape varieties and time-honoured cultivation methods with modern winemaking expertise.
The wine is made from Sangiovese, the cornerstone of Umbrian wines, complemented by Ciliegiolo. The grapes are carefully harvested and taken to the cellar, where they undergo classic fermentation. After ten months’ ageing on fine lees and subsequently in the bottle, the result is a red wine of unrivalled charm. In the glass, Toiano displays a ruby-red colour. The nose offers attractive aromas of berry fruit and spices with a subtle hint of spice. On the palate, it is friendly and inviting, yet without being superficial. The tannins are soft but present, giving the wine structure and length.
Toiano is a wine for every occasion, from an afternoon meal to starters, meat dishes, poultry and white meats. This is a genuine, approachable table wine that embodies generations of Umbrian winemaking tradition.
