Ciliegiolo di Narni is the traditional red wine of Narni, a true emblem of this historic Umbrian landscape. The Ciliegiolo is an ancient, characterful grape that reflects the most intimate characteristics of its terroir — a grape that is perfectly at one with its surroundings.
The vineyard is situated on the classic marine soils of the Narni area, rich in fossilised shellfish. This terroir dictates the careful cultivation of the vineyard, harvesting at the right stage of ripeness, spontaneous fermentation and maceration on the skins — always gentle, never forced. The result is a fresh, fragrant and delightfully lively wine. In the glass, Ciliegiolo di Narni displays a delicate, brilliant ruby red. The nose is intriguing, with aromas of cherry and wild berries, interspersed with spices and hints of smoke. On the palate, the wine surprises with rare elegance, fresh acidity, a fine texture and only subtly pronounced tannins, with a lively, pleasant aftertaste.
This is a well-crafted, versatile and immediately enjoyable wine. It is excellent with snacks and cheeses, but also pairs well with light pasta dishes, cold meats and grilled meat.
