Product description
The Heinrich Spindler estate in Forst an der Weinstraße has existed since 1620. For more than four centuries, the Spindler family has worked the same soil, cultivated the same grape variety, and followed the same philosophy: meticulous, environmentally conscious, and deeply respectful of what the land has to offer. Forst is one of the most celebrated wine villages in the Pfalz, and the estate’s vineyards are organically certified. Chemical herbicides and insecticides are avoided, and pheromone traps protect the ecosystem in the vineyard.
The Elster is a first-class (Erste Lage) site on soils of Buntsandstein gravel and clayey sand, a combination that yields fruity Rieslings with harmonious, refined acidity. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested, given a short period of skin contact, gently pressed, and transported to the cellar by gravity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel; ageing follows on fine lees in large wooden casks. The result is a Riesling that combines power with purity.
In the glass it shows a clear straw yellow. The nose is classic and precise: lightly mineral, a hint of apricot, ripe white fruit. On the palate it is dry, powerful, and direct, with juicy fruit, a subtle hay note, and a fine, lively acidity that carries the long finish. Excellent alongside fish, poultry, or Asian dishes. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees; drinking window until approximately 2031.
