Genenbergs Red is a lively, fruity red wine with character. This blend of Cabernet Cortis and Satin Noir pops out of the glass with an explosion of juicy red fruit. On the nose and palate, you immediately recognise woodland strawberry and raspberry, followed by fresh notes of cranberry, cassis, cherry and blackberry. The structure is supple, but certainly not nimble: soft tannins give the wine just that little bit of power. A spicy touch emerges in the finish, with peppery accents and a surprising hint of liquorice.
This wine is best drunk at 18 °C, but it is also delicious on hot days when slightly chilled (between 12 and 14 °C). Perfect for a summer barbecue. Pour a glass, put on your sunglasses and light the fire - this wine is ready for it. A juicy steak from the grill makes a nice combination, as do firmer fish such as tuna or swordfish. Prefer vegetarian? This red also goes very well with a spicy ratatouille or a classic spaghetti with tomato sauce. A versatile red wine that drinks smoothly and offers surprising depth.
