Which sparkling wines come from Spain?

Spain produces several types of sparkling wines, with Cava being the most famous. This Spanish sparkling wine is mainly produced in the Catalonia region, with Sant Sadurní d’Anoia as the heart of production. Cava is made using the traditional method, the same method used for Champagne. This gives the wine its refined bubbles and complex flavor.

Cava is known for its fresh and fruity character, with aromas of citrus, apple, pear, and sometimes subtle notes of almond and brioche. Spanish sparkling wines range from very dry to slightly sweet and are available in different styles, making them ideal as an aperitif, with tapas, or during festive occasions.

In addition to Cava, Corpinnat is also becoming increasingly popular. These sparkling wines are produced according to strict quality standards and are known for their artisanal character and high quality.

What is the difference between Cava and Champagne?

Cava and Champagne are both sparkling wines made using the traditional method, but they differ in origin, grape varieties, and flavor profile. Champagne comes exclusively from the Champagne region in France, while Cava originates from Spain.

Cava is mainly made from Spanish grape varieties such as Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada. These grapes create a fresh and lively flavor with fruity and sometimes lightly nutty notes. Champagne is usually made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, often resulting in a more complex and creamy style.

In addition, Cava often offers excellent value for money. The wine has elegant bubbles and a refined taste, while generally being more affordable than Champagne.
