Lichti & Astroh's first organically certified Grauburgunder marks a milestone within their terroir-driven wine line. This "KALKSTEIN" comes from limestone-rich soils in the Palatinate and was spontaneously fermented, aged for six months in used oak barrels and bottled unfiltered. The result is a complex and layered wine with distinct character.
The nose is cool and refined, with subtle notes of smoke, spice, yeast and wood, framed by aromas of yellow fruit, Williams pear and a hint of pine nut. On the palate, the wine shows a ripe, firm structure with lively acidity, fine saltiness and a spicy, slightly nutty finish. The palate is rich, with soft wood influences and an elegant minerality reflecting the limestone terroir.
