Rio Maggio's Melgrà Spumante Extra Dry Rosé is an elegant sparkling wine that combines sunshine and sophistication in one glass. The name Melgrà is derived from the dialect word for pomegranate, referring to the beautiful, soft pink colour that characterises this wine. Made from 100% Montepulciano, a grape that lends itself perfectly to sparkling vinification thanks to its aromatic richness, this rosé exudes the fresh, vibrant soul of Le Marche. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand in August, at the perfect time of early ripening, and taken to the cellar in small crates to preserve their natural integrity.
The wine undergoes classic rosé vinification, where the skins remain in contact with the juice for only two days in an oxygen-free environment, followed by a 12- to 13-day fermentation at 16°C. Second fermentation takes place in autoclaves using the Charmat or Martinotti method, with the wine resting on its fine lees for 150 days. This process enhances the fruity aroma and creates a refined mousse. In the glass, the Melgrà reveals delicate scents of strawberries and wild berries, with lively freshness and a clean, precise taste.
