12 and 13 December: the ONWINE Winemakers’ Festival. Winemakers from all ONWINE countries are coming to the Netherlands to let you taste their best wines.
The “Mysa” Sauvignon DOP Friuli Isonzo is a refined and expressive white wine from the heart of Friuli, a region internationally renowned for its elegant and aromatic whites. The grapes grow on flat vineyards with soils rich in gravel, pebbles and reddish clay, coloured by iron and aluminium oxides. The area is naturally dry and well-ventilated, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, which results in a wine with remarkable freshness and aromatic depth. Harvesting is done entirely by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
After gentle destemming and pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 15–18°C, ensuring a clean and vibrant aromatic profile. The wine then matures for ten months sur lie in steel, gaining structure, complexity and a smooth, creamy texture. After bottling, “Mysa” undergoes an additional ten months of refinement to fully develop its elegant character. In the glass it shows a bright yellow colour with subtle green reflections. The nose is intense and layered, offering notes of passion fruit, mango and pineapple, beautifully balanced by a precise touch of green pepper. On the palate it is full-bodied and fresh, with lively saline notes that hint at strong ageing potential and a clean, refined finish.
The “Mysa” Sauvignon DOP Friuli Isonzo pairs beautifully with shellfish, fish dishes, asparagus, dishes with bell pepper, or a light chicken or seafood salad. Serve at around 12°C to appreciate its aromatic depth, juicy structure and elegant freshness.
