Friulano DOP Friuli Isonzo is an elegant and authentic white wine made from old vines growing on the characteristic gravelly plains of Friuli. The soil, composed of reddish clay rich in iron oxide and aluminium, lends the wine distinctive minerality and finesse. The grapes — 100% Friulano — are harvested in mid-September, then gently destemmed and lightly crushed. Fermentation takes place slowly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks between 15 and 18 °C.
After fermentation, the wine rests on its fine lees in stainless steel for ten months, followed by bottle aging in temperature-controlled cellars. In the glass, this Friulano reveals a silky texture, pale yellow color with green highlights, and remarkable brightness. The aroma opens delicately, then gains complexity and depth, with typical Friulano notes of wildflowers, thyme, yeast, unripe apple and pear, subtly joined by apricot, honey, and a citrusy finish. On the palate, it is firm, fresh, and savory, with a smooth texture. The flavors mirror the aromas and leave a long, elegant impression after each sip.
This Friulano pairs beautifully with prosciutto — especially if it has some fat — and also with richer first courses. Serve at 12 °C and allow the wine to slowly warm in the glass to 14–15 °C to fully express its layered character. A wine that effortlessly combines freshness, elegance, and Friulian identity.
