Mevante Grechetto Colli Martani DOC is an expressive and elegant white wine from the hills of Spoleto, at an altitude of about 350 metres, where the vineyards benefit from a southeast exposure and a cool, clear climate. This position, together with 15-year-old vines, produces grapes with ripe aromas, fresh acids and a distinct terroir expression. The soils are clay with limestone formations and loess, contributing to the structure, tension and minerality of this classic Umbrian.
The wine is made from 100 per cent Grechetto, a native grape known for its aromatic richness and full mouthfeel. After the manual harvest in the third week of September, the grapes are gently pressed and Mevante vinifies entirely in stainless steel to preserve the pure fruit expression. The wine is then aged for three months on fine lie, giving subtle creaminess, depth and an extra layer of refinement. Only 5,000 bottles of this vintage were produced, reflecting the attention and precision in every step of the process.
In the glass, the Grechetto shows a beautiful straw yellow colour with golden reflections. The nose opens with delicate but defined aromas of white fruit, spices and floral accents. On the palate, the wine is round and fresh, with a nice balance between softness and lively acidity. The finish is long, clean and aromatic, with hints of Mediterranean herbs and subtle mineral notes. This is a versatile wine that pairs effortlessly with fish dishes, risotto, poultry, pasta with vegetables and light antipasti.
