Agapé Rouge 2021 is a warm, generous red wine from the sunny slopes at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The vineyards are on clay and clay-limestone soils, providing ripe fruit, structure and a beautiful, natural freshness. This cuvée embodies Domaine Souleyrol's accessible, inviting style: intense in flavour but supple and drinkable.
The blend consists of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Carignan. The grapes are harvested by hand. After an 8-10-day cuvaison, the assemblage is complemented by a carbonation of Carignan, which gives extra juiciness and aromatic lift. This creates a wine that combines power and gourmandise, with soft tannins and lively tension.
In the glass, Agapé Rouge 2021 shows a garnet-red colour with violet reflections. The nose is bursting with candied red fruits such as cherry, complemented by pronounced Mediterranean notes of black olive and tapenade. On the palate, the wine is harmonious and generous, with voluptuous tannins, a juicy core and a fresh touch that balances the intensity. The finish is long and seductive.
