Storgê Rouge 2021 is a concentrated, layered red wine from old vines (±50 years) on the sunny slopes at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The vineyards are on clay and clay-limestone soils, providing depth, structure and a distinct mineral touch. This cuvée shows the more serious, preservative side of Ventoux, with ripe fruit and refined tension.
The blend consists of 60% Grenache Noir and 40% Syrah, with manual harvesting. After a long cuvaison in concrete cuves, the wine builds up colour, structure and aromatic concentration, while the texture remains velvety smooth. With age, the wine refines further and additional layers unfold.
In the glass, Storgê Rouge 2021 shows a deep, intense garnet colour with purple reflections. The nose combines candied black fruit with mineral accents of flint and graphite. On the palate, the wine starts out generous and slightly sweet, carried by a fresh touch and velvety, present tannins. With ripening, notes of candied raspberry and blackberry develop. The finish is long and persistent.
