Château Naudonnet Plaisance Red 2024 comes from the new red appellation of Entre-Deux-Mers and shows beautifully what the Graves d'Escoussans can produce. The vineyards are on clay and gravel soils, which provide structure, ripeness and a recognisable terroir tone. This cuvée combines accessibility with backbone: fruity on the attack, powerful at the core and elegant on the finish.
The blend consists of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Cold preferment maceration is followed by a long, temperature-controlled fermentation, which gives depth and tannic structure without harshness. The ageing emphasises fruit and terroir expression, with a harmonious balance between Merlot juice and Cabernet power.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is complex with notes of sour cherry and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is nicely balanced with a good tannic structure; the finish is elegant and lets the character of the Graves d'Escoussans shine through clearly. A modern, successful introduction to the new red Entre-Deux-Mers style.
