2x Valle 'Scura Vino Rosso IGT Bio — Red · Ca. 13% · €14.00 per bottle
The most approachable red wine of I Ciacca, included twice because it drinks so well. Nearly 200 years ago, the first French vines were planted in the Val di Comino, and Cabernet di Atina received its official DOC recognition in 1999. This Valle 'Scura is the lighter, more direct sibling of the Riserva: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, gently pressed and naturally fermented in concrete vats. Intense ruby red in the glass with purple glints. The nose is floral and inviting: wisteria, red berries and a hint of undergrowth. On the palate savoury and pleasant, with fresh acidity and soft tannins. Never heavy. With pasta, red meat, poultry or a cheese board. Serve at 14-16°C.
1x Valle 'Scura N.7 Vino Rosso IGT Lazio — Red · Ca. 13% · €25.00 per bottle
The most indigenous red wine of I Ciacca. Where the other Valle 'Scura revolves around Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, here the Cesanese takes centre stage — an ancient red grape variety from Lazio that is gaining increasing recognition. Complemented by small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the rare Giulia. In the glass a beautiful ruby red with a clear glow. Amarena cherries, cassis and ripe plum on the nose, with a dark touch of black cherry and a lightly spiced undertone. On the palate full and well-balanced, with lovely acidity, soft tannins and an intense, lingering flavour. With rich pasta dishes, grilled red meat or a beautiful board of aged cheeses. Serve at 14-16°C.
1x Valle 'Scura Cabernet d'Atina DOC Riserva — Red · Ca. 13.5-14% · €25.00 per bottle
The top wine of I Ciacca's red range and one of the best-kept secrets of Lazio. The same 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot as the Bio, but aged for at least nine months in egg-shaped concrete vats, followed by eighteen months in new French oak barrels of 500 litres and a further 6 to 9 months in bottle. This is a wine that has truly been given time. Clear red in the glass with a brilliant ruby colour. Blackcurrants, blackberries, toasted bread and black pepper. On the palate full and balanced, with ripe, silky tannins and a warm, deep, long finish. Grilled red meat, game, rack of lamb or strongly aged cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C and allow it to breathe.
1x Nostalgia Maturano IGT Lazio — White · Ca. 13% · €25.00 per bottle
The most approachable white wine of I Ciacca, but certainly not without depth. The Maturano Bianco is a grape that is genetically unique to the region around Picinisco and has been grown here for centuries. After more than ten years studying the soils and the terroir, I Ciacca makes an honest, direct white wine from it. Aged 9 months on fine lees and then 12 months in bottle. Clear straw yellow in the glass. Honey, stone fruit and citrus on the nose with mineral undertones from the limestone soil at 600 metres altitude. On the palate elegant and lively, fresh and long. With fish, seafood, light pasta dishes and as an aperitif. Serve at 10-12°C.
1x Sotto le Stelle Maturano IGT Lazio — White · Ca. 13-14% · €30.00 per bottle
The ambitious, layered sibling of the Nostalgia. Named after I Ciacca's hotel of the same name in Picinisco. The same Maturano Bianco grape, but a completely different approach: spontaneous fermentation without added yeasts, at least 12 months on lees in concrete vats and then 36 months in bottle before release. Golden in colour, deep and complex on the nose: ripe stone fruit, musk, a light toast and deep minerality. On the palate full and juicy, with a layered flavour that keeps unfolding. A wine that rewards patience. With poultry, truffle, ripe cheeses or full-bodied fish dishes. Serve at 12-14°C.
