Product description
The Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the Moselle’s most iconic vineyards, famous for the slate sundial situated halfway up the steep slope. Its southerly exposure, the blue slate that retains heat, and the intense sunshine give the Riesling here a level of ripeness and concentration that forms the basis for the finest Spätlesen from the Moselle Valley.
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt harvests here late, selectively and by hand, to pick the grapes at the perfect moment of ripeness. The Spätlese combines the typical fruity sweetness of the predicate with the lively Moselle acidity, resulting in a perfectly balanced wine. Clear and pale gold in the glass. The nose offers ripe peach, apricot and orange, complemented by the characteristic minerality of the Sonnenuhr. On the palate, it is juicy, elegant and long, with an unforgettable interplay between sweetness and acidity.
Excellent with light Asian dishes, fruity desserts or simply on its own as a moment of indulgence. Serve at 8–10°C.
