Product description
Monferace is more than just a wine; it is a project and a dream. Born amongst the hills and castles of Monferrato, Monferace is the result of a group of courageous winemakers who have believed for years in the potential of Grignolino as a great wine. The name refers to the ancient name of the Aleramic Monferrato. The aim is to restore the age-old prestige of this grape variety, which was once sought after at all the Italian and European courts. The first vintage was 2015.
Following traditional maceration with pumping over and the removal of the seeds after 10 days, Monferace is aged for 24 months in French oak tonneaux, followed by a minimum of 24 months in the bottle. This long ageing process, inspired by the past, gives the grape variety time to reveal its true nobility and elegance. In the glass, it is a light red with orange reflections. Notes of berries, geranium and rose develop over time. On the palate, it offers unexpected body with tannins and herbal notes in perfect balance.
A meditative wine par excellence. Perfect with red meat dishes and medium-aged to mature cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C.
