Product description
The name Frivolezza, Italian for ‘frivolity’, is almost misleading as to what’s in the glass. For behind that light-hearted name lies a spumante made with the rigour of the champenoise method and aged on the lees for no less than 50 months. The result is a sparkling wine that is both playful and serious, and thus perfectly matches the character of Ghemme: a village that carries its rich past without letting it weigh it down.
Made from an indigenous grape variety grown on the alluvial soils formed centuries ago by the Valsesia supervolcano, the Frivolezza begins its life as a still, fruity wine. Following a second fermentation in the bottle, it undergoes a patient ageing process lasting more than four years, during which notes of biscuit, nuts and a subtle minerality slowly develop. The hand-harvest in early September ensures that the grapes retain their fresh acidity and delicate aromas.
Upon opening, the Frivolezza displays a soft pink colour with orange highlights and a fine, persistent effervescence. The nose is subtle and elegant: small red fruits, a hint of citrus, and that typical yeasty note one would expect from a serious sparkling wine. On the palate, it is dry, warm and creamy, with a fresh acidity and a briny finish that define its thirst-quenching quality. Ideal as an aperitif, but also a surprisingly versatile dining companion with fish, white meat and vegetables.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
