This wine is made from 100% Croatina, from the hills of Monleale in Piedmont. The grapes grow on clay-limestone soils at 400 metres altitude and are harvested by hand in mid-September. A 10-day maceration is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and an eight-month ageing, supplemented by at least six months of bottle rest. The wine is closed with a Diam cork to preserve freshness.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby colour with purple hues. The nose is expressive, with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, plums, violets and a hint of fresh herbs and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and lively, with rich notes of dark berries, fresh acidity and soft tannins that provide a balanced structure.
With an alcohol content of 15% and a powerful yet fresh style, this unfiltered wine has a storage potential of six to 10 years. It looks best with grilled meats, lamb dishes and mature cheeses. We recommend serving the wine at 16-18°C in a large wine glass for the best flavour experience.
