Les Schistes is a Muscadet with real character. The name refers directly to the soil: slate, shallow, stony, well-drained and slightly acidic. In Saint-Julien-de-Concelles, the winemaker brings this cuvée together from several plots with the same soil characteristics. That slate soil is the key to the typical freshness and minerality that Muscadet is known for.
The wine ages sur lie, on the fine lees, which gives it extra texture and a subtle creaminess without compromising its freshness. Clear and light yellow in the glass. The nose is restrained and precise: white flowers, citrus and a fresh mineral touch that immediately transports you to the Loire. On the palate dry, crisp and juicy, with a lively acidity and a long, saline finish that invites the next sip.
This is the classic wine with everything that comes from the sea. Oysters, mussels, seafood and fish are its natural partners. Serve cold at 8-10°C.
