Marqués del Hueco Viura is a fresh and accessible white Rioja, made from 100% Viura, sourced from 10- to 15-year-old vines at around 400 metres altitude. The vineyards with south-to-southeast exposure and chalky clay soils provide a nice balance of ripe fruit, freshness and finesse.
The grapes are harvested in early October and undergo a 24-hour cold maceration to best extract aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts. After fermentation, the wine matures for another 3-4 months on fine lie, adding extra roundness and a soft structure.
In the glass, it shows a bright, intense straw yellow colour with slight green reflections. The nose opens with aromas of white stone fruit such as apricot, complemented by floral notes and fresh citrus nuances. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced and slightly creamy, with a soft texture and a pleasantly long finish.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
