Galáctico from Viticultores de Lapuebla is a characterful and elegant red wine made from 100% Garnacha, sourced from old vines from 1920, located at around 700 metres altitude in Alesón. The combination of altitude, age of the vines and ferruginous clay soils creates a wine with concentration, finesse and a distinct terroir expression.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented partly as whole bunches, followed by spontaneous fermentation with daily pigeage for careful extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 11 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, followed by a further 6 months of bottle aging. This results in a wine where power and elegance come together seamlessly.
In the glass, Galáctico shows a deep ruby red colour with purple reflections. The nose opens with floral notes such as orange blossom, followed by ripe red fruits such as strawberry and cherry, complemented by subtle spiciness of cardamom and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is structured and powerful, with ripe, integrated tannins and fresh acidity that provides balance and a long, lingering finish.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
