Perticaia's Montefalco Rosso DOC Riserva is a majestic red wine from the heart of Umbria, merging tradition, craftsmanship and terroir into a wine of exceptional depth and elegance. This blend of 75% Sangiovese, 20% Sagrantino and 5% Cabernet Franc is hand-harvested and carefully selected in the vineyard: the Sangiovese in mid-September, the Sagrantino and Cabernet Franc in early October.
After a lengthy skin soaking of more than 20 days, vinification takes place at controlled temperatures, maximising the character of each grape. The wine then ages for two years in French oak barrels, after which it rests for another six months in stainless steel and at least six months in bottle. The result is a wine with a deep ruby colour and an intense aromatic profile, in which notes of ripe red and black berries blend harmoniously with spicy hints of cinnamon and chocolate.
On the palate, the Montefalco Rosso Riserva shows itself powerful, full-bodied and robust, but at the same time silky smooth thanks to perfectly integrated tannins. This wine is ideally paired with hearty meat dishes, roasted or broiled meats, charcuterie and aged cheeses. Serve it at 16-18 °C to fully enjoy its structure and complexity. Thanks to its impressive storage potential of at least 15 years, this wine is also an excellent choice for the cellar. A true calling card of Umbrian craftsmanship.
