The Rossa Barbera d'Asti DOCG from Cascina Giovinale is a classic and accessible expression of the Barbera grape, from the hills of Nizza Monferrato. The grapes grow on calcareous soils with sandy influences and benefit from a favourable southwest exposure. Reflecting the authentic character of the region, this wine combines fruitiness, freshness and elegance in a harmonious style that is broadly applicable at the table.
The grapes are harvested at full ripeness and undergo a traditional vinification with destemming and a skin soaking of eight to 10 days. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures of 28 to 30°C, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages in tanks to best preserve its fruity character. In the glass, Rossa shows a ruby red colour with subtle violet reflections. The nose is characterised by aromas of ripe red and black fruits, complemented by floral notes that add extra refinement. On the palate, the wine presents itself juicy, full-bodied and flavoursome, with fine balance and a long, lingering finish.
Thanks to its versatile character, this Barbera is an excellent accompaniment to a variety of dishes from traditional cuisine. It goes perfectly with pastas, meat dishes, charcuterie and other savoury dishes. An accessible and characterful Barbera that takes everyday enjoyment to the next level.
