Product description
The Spätburgunder ‘Alte Reben’ is the absolute flagship wine of Weingut Keber Kolling’s red range. Made from old vines with yields deliberately reduced to ensure maximum concentration, and aged for 24 months in new barriques made from Pfälzer oak, this is a wine that sets the bar high for what organic Pinot Noir from Germany can be.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep, radiant ruby-red colour. The nose is intense and layered: ripe cherries, forest fruits and dark plums, complemented by delicate notes of vanilla, cocoa, roasted meat and a subtle spiciness from the oak. On the palate, it is dry, powerful yet elegant, with a full body, ripe and finely integrated tannins, and precise acidity. The finish is long and complex, a sign of high quality and ageing potential.
A wine for special occasions that also deserves special dishes. It pairs excellently with game, fillet of beef, lamb or mature hard cheeses. It also reveals its true character when paired with a classic duck breast or a richly flavoured stew. Allow it to breathe for at least an hour before serving, or keep it for a few more years to experience it at its peak. Serve at 16–18°C.
