The clouds on Tenuta dei Mori’s labels are no coincidence. Each name refers to a type of cloud, and the Stratus – the lowest and most widespread cloud – is also the estate’s most straightforward and accessible wine. Fresh, mineral and ready to drink, just like a Stratus cloud hovering calmly over the landscape: present, clear and without fuss.
Stratus is a white blend of 60% Vermentino, 20% Trebbiano Spoletino and 20% Verdicchio, sourced from vineyards in the process of converting to organic farming on the clay-rich silt soils of Villanova at an altitude of 250 metres. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September and fermented at a controlled temperature of 15°C in stainless steel tanks. After ageing in stainless steel, the wine is bottled in March and left to age in the bottle for a further 1 to 2 months. In the glass, it is straw-yellow with green highlights. On the palate, it is fresh, mineral and pleasantly juicy, with an elegant, fruity finish that delivers exactly what the nose promises.
A delicate, straightforward white wine that pairs well with fish, seafood, light pasta dishes and vegetable dishes. Also excellent as an aperitif. Serve chilled at 8–10°C.
