Urganio is an organic spumante from Tuscany, crafted in the traditional metodo classico style and entirely without dosage (pas dosé). This sparkling wine is made from 100% Viognier grapes, harvested in August from a small vineyard near Lago degli Archi. The grapes are handpicked and gently pressed immediately upon arrival in the cellar, with every step of the pressing process handled with great precision to preserve the delicate aromas of the variety.
After alcoholic fermentation, the base wine matures in ceramic vessels before undergoing its second fermentation in the bottle. Urganio then rests on the lees for at least 14 months—a slow and patient process that builds complexity and refinement. At disgorgement, no dosage is added: this spumante remains entirely pure and unsweetened, resulting in a bone-dry wine with character and a distinct personality.
In the glass, Urganio shines with a deep straw-yellow color and a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, it reveals an expressive aromatic profile reminiscent of freshly baked bread crust, toasted hazelnuts, and ripe apricot. On the palate, it is taut and dry, with surprising structure and rare finesse. The name Urganio is a tribute to the iconic workhorse of the Archi estate—a sturdy Comtois breed that, together with Galant, Jamaique, and Jiulienne, helps cultivate the land naturally. Their work reduces soil compaction and enhances fertility. This wine is not only a symbol of purity in the glass but also of a sustainable philosophy in the vineyard.
